Yellowcard West Palm Beach Concert reviews
We'll forever be the young
Yellowcard started about 10 years ago, and that was the first time I ever saw them - and it was one of their very first trips to New Jersey. It was the very end of the day at Warped Tour, and I walked with my then-boyfriend to the back row stages, just exhausted and wanting a quieter place to enjoy the music. There we found Yellowcard closing out the day for one of the stages. I had heard of them, and maybe a song or two, but didn't know much. He still had energy and jumped into the pit. I found a post to lean on and enjoyed the absolute best show I had seen all day.
10 years later, I drove to this concert, hoping memories held up to what I thought - and I was not disappointed in the least. The opening bands, Ok Radio and Every Avenue, were fun and set the perfect tone for the headliner. While the crowd itself was a little younger than I would have hoped (come on, these kids had to be in playpens when "Ocean Avenue" came out!!!), I laughed them off and sang at the top of my lungs to every song. The band had taken some time off recently, and they just released a new album which they played quite a few numbers from. While I normally don't like hearing new music at shows, I felt like I already knew these ones by heart because of the energy flowing through them. And when the old hits were played? Oh, we were all loosing it, screaming every word, dancing like complete fools. I was lost in nostalgia and dripping with sweat and happiness by the end. 10 years later, these guys still put on one of the top 5 shows I have ever been fortunate enough to enjoy in my life.
